Giving Students iPhones/iPods: A Good Idea, Or Will it Lose its Sheen?
Taking a step that a few professors may view as a bit counterproductive, some
U.S. universities are doling out
Apple
iPhones and iPods to
students to provide a direct virtual connection to undergraduates. University
officials say the devices can enhance the learning experience, letting students
conduct research while in class, respond to instant polls by professors and
receive their homework electronically. But they also allow students to send
messages to each other throughout their classes, a prospect that professors find
galling.

Review: 2009 Honda Fit
Versatility is the key to the 2009
Honda Fit. Few compact vehicles will accommodate four adults (although
Honda claims five) as comfortably and the Magic Seat makes interior space
configurable for hauling all sorts of items, long or tall. With surprising cargo
capacity, roomy interior, and new safety features, the Honda Fit is a no-brainer
for those looking for a compact, but useful little car.

Mercedes Is Still Committed to Diesel
Even as diesel prices rise faster than gasoline, Mercedes-Benz remains committed
to diesel in the U.S. market (the automaker notes that diesel vehicle sales have
risen 40% in the U.S. in the past five years), predicting consumers will
appreciate the improved engine performance-torque output is 30% to 50% higher on
a V6 diesel compared to a V8 gasoline engine-and a
fuel tank range of up to
600 miles (depending on application).
